7 - 23: Christmas cards and tags

This is my 100th post, so I thought I make it a large one. So I have been crafting alot this weekend, this is all of the projects I have finished (have started some too but those I write about later).

7 - 9: Tags

My sister has made some beautiful christmas tags, you can find them here. I wanted to try out the technique, so when I was at her place I got to play with her distress inks and stampin' up inks. These three was the result, made me want to buy me some more distress inks.

10 - 14: 3D Decoupage with flowersoft

I'm a craft magazine addict, a buy them as soon as I see one. In the november issue of Papercraft Inspirations the free gift was a 3D decoupage kit with flowersoft, I never played with flowersoft, but have wanted to try it for some time now. So I made all the cards, added some glitter glue and some flowers. They were really fun to make and I have some flowersoft left for some other christmas cards.

15 - 23: Cross stitched christmas cards

I started stitching these several years ago, but they have been laying in a drawer gathering dust, but with this new challange of mine I thought I finish them. Going to try to send christmas cards to all my friends and family this year, so these are going into the send pile, now I only going to find envelopes for them. The cross stitch designs are from Enjoy Cross Stitch at Christmas Issue 4 from 2010 and The World of Cross Stitch Issue 78 from 2003.

6. Warm festive hugs

Today I finished my latest cross stitch project, a Tatty Teddy, Miranda bear or a Me To You Bear. Decided I wanted a Christmas design for my home, a cute little bear to lighten up the apartment. I started it about a week ago and now it's finished. The pattern is from The World of Cross Stitching issue 130. The fabric used for the cushion is 6 years old, I used it for a tatty teddy quilt I made for my sisters newborn son, so I thought it be a great way to use up the last part of it.

2. Mallard Ducks In Flight

Project 2 finished in the 100 projects finished until stash shopping, this I been working on for years and years, one of those forever WIPs. But finally I finished it!
It is created from a cross stitch kit from Heritage Stitchcraft, it is based on a watercolour by John Clayton. There are seven more designs in the series called Flights of Fancy, I would like to make them all, but considering the years it took finishing this (in the ballpark of 5 years) I might wait before starting anyone new. Now there is only left to get a frame for the finished piece, but that is a project all on its own.

100 creations before next shopping spree!

I except the challenge! My sister joined a challenge, finish 100 projects until your allowed to buy any more stash, she thought that I should join in to. And I love challenges, so with the delivery of my latest shopping spree, I now join in. So I have to create and finish 100 projects before I do any more shopping, and when I have I will have a big shopping spree instead, and might even have a little blog candy to celebrate with.

And while I'm on the subject of candy, my competition for the knitting needles, yarn and knitting markers is still on, its just taking some time to knit all the hexapuffs, but maybe some of the 100 creations can be hexapuffs, and we will come closer to guessing.

Christmas Boofle

This last month has been intense, both work wise and craft wise. Been working on a lot of different projects, long ones. And due to yarn shortage I haven't filled the hexapuff-bowl yet, but there will be coming in some more yarn now this week or the next and then I will be working on them again. But I had to make a little project in the meen time so I get that instant gratification feeling, that little spark that keeps you going. And to celebrate me getting my new subscription, I decided to stitch one thing from the first mag I got. So with no further ado, here is Boofle, he's a cute little ehh dog or bear, doesn't really know. But he is really cute though.

I cross stitched Boofle on 14 count Aida with DMC cotton, silk and effect threads. I then mounted him in a 6"x6" card. The aperture is first embossed with a border from Crafters Companions Ultimate Pro, then cut out with a knife and then I used stickle glitter glue around the edges. On the inside I have stamped the text on a piece of neenah card. I also stamped the little pictures on some neenah card and painted them with my spectrum noir pens. The stamps is from the magazine Make Christmas Cards and the pattern of Boofle is from issue 182 of The World of Cross Stitching.

Beekeeper inspired knitkeeper fold

As I said yesterday I would reveal the secret project, well it finished so here it comes. I was inspired by the beekeeper's quilt, and while you knit the cute hexipuffs (or hexapuffs) you need a few bits and bobs. A needle to fasten the thread end and some knit markers to keep your place, and these things are so small so you really need somewhere to keep them. So here is my little knit keeper fold, I also made the small knit markers inside. Enjoy

Sketching some manga

Been home sick with a nasty flu, haven't really gotten so much done, not even crafty stuff. I have done a few hexipuffs and a little secret project that will be revealed later today or tomorrow. But in between I have been sketching again, this time it's full figure mangas, trying to learn how the pleats in the clothes lies and the proportions of the body on the figures. At the same time I'm trying to learn how to use my new markers.
These to is my latest, they're first sketched on ordinary printer paper, then the lineart is made on letraset marker paper, finally it's painted with spectrum noir markers.

New Project - Beekeepers quilt - The Mi Edition and a competition!!

I think I've fallen and hit my head, cause a couple of days ago I started probably the biggest project in my life, I'm going to make a beekeeper's quilt. It's a quilt made of hundreds of small, soft and puffy, hexapuffs. All individual knitted to later be sewn together. The creator of the beekeeper quilt pattern is the woman behind tiny owl knits you find her at ravelry.com. So I will report my progress here (the first time I take you with me on one of my big projects), you can follow my status just by clicking the beekeeper's quilt label. And I will try to weekly update my hexipuff count, but not this week, because we are starting this off with a bang I'm going to have a little competition. Of course with a prize, the winner will win a bag of knitting stuff, some dpns, a ball of yarn (or two) and some knitting markers, all you need to start your own beekeepers quilt (or any other project of your choice).

So how do you win?

In the picture below you can see my hexapuff bowl (will be needing a bigger one later, but this will do for now). Now I want you to guess how many hexapuffs it takes to fill the bowl, and when I mean fill, I mean fill so when you try to put another one in, it falls out. One guess per person and per number, (so if someone taken a number, you can't guess that number). Place your guess in the comment section. When the bowl is filled I will announce the winner. Happy guessing!

Knitting marker

I've just started a big project, actually it's huge, more info will come (and a little competition too). And this project needed a knitting marker, not one of those hanging off the needle, like the ones you use when you round knit, no one of those with a little clasp you stick it to your project with. Well the ones I got where all of the hanging ones, so out came the beading materials. As I just had gotten two big boxes of yarn out, my boyfriend looked at me as I was crazy and asked "wasn't you supposed to start knitting?". Well a few minutes later my first ever knitting marker was made (my previous ones where made by my sister), and my boyfriend sort of understood why my beading materials was an essential also when I knit. And here comes the little and simple marker.
